How to Decide On Great Camping Sites

Do you enjoy camping? Now that the weather is getting nicer, many are thinking about what they want to do over the summer.

Camping is a popular activity, and a lot of persons like to find the best camping sites as early in the year as they can. It's important to ask a few questions when calling a place to book a site, as not all of these places are suitable, and every site will have something different to offer. Some sites are just awful, and it is always good to stay away from those. I know because I learned all to well and I also learned it the hard way.

My husband's music group had a festival that they played every year, and they provide us with free camping sites so that we did not have to drive back and forth if we chose not to. This was good, but the campingsites they offered us were not always great. In fact, there were times when I was sure that they had reserved for us the worst ones in the place. If we had been camping in a camper it might have been okay. However, we were in tents, and there was no shade anywhere near our site. This meant that by eight in the morning, we were roasted out of our tent. So much for my one chance to sleep in.

The next year, we asked for different camping sites, but they were quite all the same. More questions should have been asked. Questions like how much shade may or may not be there, and if there are any extras that might end up being very important. Some sites have running water and electricity (great for coffee!), and these are wonderful, but they don't all necessary have this. You have to find out before you accept the site they are offering to you, if that is something you insist on having.

Besides getting the right sites, booking for the right time is always important. Some of the most popular weekends will book fast, so you might not be able to get the kind of site you want, or you may end up getting one of the really awful camping sites. It's a lot like airline tickets at popular times of the season. If you know you are going, and you know the dates, reserve your camping sites as soon as possible and remember to ask all the good questions. You don't want to end up roasting in the sun or having to do without water if you don't have to, and it's fun not to have to worry about not finding a spot at all.
